The financial cost to individuals of higher education is now regularly exceeding £50k before maintenance in the UK; consequently, students are more concerned than ever that their degree should offer value for money when they enter jobs marketplace. Overshadowed by long-term debt, lack career options and job offerings with low salary, student numbers arts, languages, humanities philosophy areas have suffered compared most STEM disciplines (Universities UK, 2018). Computer science, I.T. computing tend buck this trend (HESA, 2020), and, a drive toward reskilling workforce technology-focussed future, suits Government strategy. However, graduate employers want hire who well rounded experience; businesses identify general workplace experience key. subsequent sections describe level 7 (Master’s) capstone project module, Commercial Development Practice, dedicated fulfilling these employer requirements focussing on processes rather products. practicalities running module considerations been key successful application technique over 14 years has discussed. curriculum, pedagogic approaches assessment methods presented. evaluation approach, which analyses impact perception using data gathered since 2015, found participants gain valuable skills, confidence leads employable graduates.
